MI teachers removes 'gay' from 'Deck the Halls'

Eyewitness NewsTRAVERSE CITY, Michigan -- A Traverse City, Michigan, school principal says students are back to singing the proper line in "Deck The Halls" after a music teacher altered a key line.

Cherry Knoll Elementary School Principal Chris Parker tells WPBN-TV he was disappointed when a music teacher changed the line from "Don we now our gay apparel" to "bright apparel."

The teacher made the change because the kids kept giggling over that line.

Parker calls it a teachable moment.

The students will perform the song -- with the original lyrics -- at a concert later this month.
