Early Tuesday, Libyan officials showed reporters the result of one strike that hit a building used by parliamentarians.

It was not immediately clear what the other strikes targeted.

Reporters cannot leave their hotel without government minders.

There was no immediate information on injuries.

One strike sent plumes of smoke over the capital.

Later, burning flares cascaded down and two more sharp explosions were heard.

Some residents responded by raking the sky with gunfire and beeping their horns.

NATO is conducting strikes over Libya meant to prevent the country's military from targeting civilians and rebels seeking the ouster of leader Moammar Gadhafi.
